Leonidam is an Italian artisan brand of handmade shaving brushes, based in the Treviso, not far from Venice. Every brush is made by hand, with hand-cast resin handles often combined with wood.

Entirely by hand in our workshop in Italy. Each handle is individually cast, turned, sanded and finished, and the badger knots are hand-tied Nothing is outsourced.

roduction is intentionally small: roughly 10 brushes once or twice a month. It is not a marketing trick, it reflects the real time needed to make each piece by hand.

I capelli provengono dalla Manciuria, in Cina, ma sono assemblati in nodi grazie a un partner locale che è anche un amico, che ci aiuta a creare le caratteristiche del nodo. Insieme abbiamo testato come ottenere l'alta densità e anche altre caratteristiche come quanto dovrebbe pesare un nodo, quanto dovrebbero essere lunghi i capelli o che tipo di colla dovrebbe essere usata. Forse un giorno creeremo un'unica entità. Per ora siamo a pochi chilometri di distanza.rt.
L'effetto gel tip viene eseguito manualmente da noi, con un processo meccanico e chimico.
Stiamo testando continuamente diversi lotti di peli di tasso, sempre alla ricerca della migliore qualità da fornire.
È un processo piuttosto lungo ma il risultato vale lo sforzo..

Usually we don't accept custom requests. However, we love challenges and if you have a particular theme in your mind that you would like to "transform" into a brush, we'd love to hear about it.
We like experimenting with new shapes, colors, materials and effects so we can design something unique for you.

If there is a material defect with our work, we will do our best to make things right, including a full or partial refund. 

Since we only sell handles with a glued knot, any indication about loft and knot type should be arranged when you place your order.

Hand-cast resin, often combined with wood, including very rough woods such as the mooring posts (briccole) from the Venice lagoon. Each pour is unique, so no two handles are identical.

A fan knot has a wider, more splayed tip that covers more surface area and works well for face lathering. A bulb knot is rounder and more compact, with more backbone, and is well suited to bowl lathering.

A 28mm knot holds more lather and gives more coverage with a softer feel. A 26mm knot is denser with more backbone in a smaller footprint, often preferred for precision or smaller faces.

Leonidam offers synthetic knots whose fibers are not of animal origin, suitable for anyone who prefers an animal-free brush. Badger-hair knots are also available, so if you want a vegan option simply choose a synthetic knot like the Silversynth.

Give it a short break-in over a few uses. Soak the knot in warm water for a minute or two before lathering, and avoid heavy pressure at first so the fibers settle naturally.

After each use rinse thoroughly with clean water, gently squeeze out the excess, and let it dry upright or on a stand. Avoid prolonged soaking and very hot water, which can degrade the knot base over time.

Yes. Fan knots favour face lathering thanks to their wide splay; bulb knots work for both but excel at bowl lathering. Your knot choice at purchase sets the best use.
